NEW MINING TRUCK INNOVATION FOR THE FUTURE

http://autocargotransport.blogspot.comThe founder of this new truck company started some nine years ago analising the imperfectness of the existing Mining and Construction vehicles. Many interviews with the management of mining companies and operators gave a good picture of what could be improved. This company is a new player on the market dominated by five large companies. The tag line "Applied technical innovations " is exactly what is all about. Technical innovations with the target to increase productivity and reduce costs. Our theme is also the actually energy price situation and a great challenge for us to reduce the costs for great mining mashines how Mining trucks.

How Diesel Engines Work

http://autocargotransport.blogspot.com
One of the most popular HowStuffWorks articles is How Car Engines Work, which explains these basic principles behind with internal combustion, discusses the four-stroke cycle and talks about all of the subsystems that help your car's engine to do its job. For a long time after we published that article, one of the most common questions asked was, "What is the difference between a gasoline and a diesel engine?"

Diesel's story actually begins with the invention of the gasoline engine. Nikolaus August Otto had invented and patented the gasoline engines by 1876. This invention used the four-stroke combustion principle, also known as the "Otto Cycle," and it's the basic premise for most car engines today. In its early stage, the gasoline engine wasn't very efficient, and other major methods of transportation such as the steam engine fared poorly as well. Only about 10 percent of the fuel are used in these types of engines actually moved a vehicle. The rest of the fuel simply produced useless heat.
Rudolf Diesel
Hulton Archive/Getty Images

Rudolf Diesel, inventor of the diesel engine.

In 1878, Rudolf Diesel was attending the Polytechnic High School of Germany (the equivalent of an engineering college) when he learned about the low efficiency of gasoline and steam engines. This disturbing information inspired him to create an engine with a higher efficiency, and he devoted much of his time to developing a "Combustion Power Engine." By 1892 Diesel had obtained a patent for what we now call the diesel engine.

If diesel engines are so efficient, why don't we use them more often? You might see the words "diesel engine" and think of big, hefty cargo trucks spewing out black, sooty smoke and creating a loud clattering noise. This negative image of diesel trucks and engines has made diesel less attractive to casual drivers in the United States -- although diesel is great for hauling large shipments over long distances, it hasn't been the best choice for everyday commuters. This is starting to change, however, as people are improving the diesel engine to make it cleaner and less noisy.

Greater Manchester Fire Servive first to get a Volvo FL

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service is the first fire service in the UK to take delivery of a new Volvo FL truck.

The new vehicle, which will be used as a driver training vehicle for members of the fire service, becomes the latest addition in a fleet of over 120 Volvo trucks.

Currently operating two older Volvo FL12’s based at driver training centres at Wigan and Philip Parks Fire Station, the decision which was made to purchase an additional vehicle. However with new regulations from the DSA on training vehicles, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service had to consider the latest criteria before an order was placed.

http://autocargotransport.blogspot.com
Brigade Engineer, John Collier, commented that, “Recent industry changes to standardise all training vehicles meant that we had to search the market to ensure the strict criteria was met.” He added that, “Volvo was the only company to meet all of our requirements, in the terms of the new regulations, price and delivery.” Purchased from Municipal Sales Manager, David Greenwood at Thomas Hardie Commercials in Wigan, the Volvo FL-240, 4x2 rigid with rear air suspension, also has Euro 4 technology to minimise emissions. In light of this, the vehicle will help the Fire Service, as they strive to reduce their carbon footprint across the city.

http://autocargotransport.blogspot.com
Based from Manchester Fire and Rescue’s fire station in Wigan, the new vehicle has already received a glowing report. John commented that, “Our instructors have praised the vehicles overall performance and ease of use for new LGV drivers.”

The latest driver training addition can be seen across the City of Manchester, but will predominantly operate across the Boroughs of Wigan and Leigh. The service’s other training centre at Philips Park now have their own Volvo FL on order, which is expected to be delivered very soon.

2010 Polaris Scrambler 500 ATV Review

Polaris Scrambler 500 ATV Review

Quit thinking about it and swing a leg over with the new 500 to enjoy its capabilities..
Swing a leg over the Scrambler and either put the CVT transmission in all neutral or hold the brake while it’s in gear and twist the key to start the big 498cc 4-stroke Single. Whoops, did we mention that it’s carbureted? If it’s cold outside you might also need to pull the choke lever. Once started all you need to do is give the thumb throttle a push to get the Scrambler moving. And once moving you’ll again be wondering what this machine is for. It’s quick, but not really any quicker than the latest Sportsman 550XP. It seems to handle pretty well, but not really noticeably better than the XP. It’s also very comfortable, but again, not any more plush than the XP.

When the throttle is chopped, the engine braking is darn near perfect in its application. It is far less noticeable than the artificially induced braking that’s so prevalent on many of the CVT-equipped utility ATVs including other Polaris’. That means it works well for aggressive riding. Letting off of the throttle results in a decreasing coast down rather than the abrupt, throw-you-forward-with-rear-tires-skidding that’s too often dialed into CVT transmissions; an effort to keep you from having to use the brakes themselves. The braking downfall is the combination of a single lever brake system that doesn’t allow full control when entering corners hard, and the rear brake pedal that’s raised so high above the floorboards that your boot fits underneath it more comfortably than operating it!

Confused? So are we, so let’s look back at some Scrambler history and maybe that’ll help. The Scrambler was introduced back in 1995 as a 400cc 2-stroke. It was such a hit that in 1997 Polaris released a big bore 4-stroke version, the Scrambler 500. At that time (in case you weren’t born yet) sport quads were nothing like they are now, with the big news being the Honda 300EX having reverse and the Yamaha Banshee still king of the sand dunes. And in those days utility ATVs were, well, very utility. So when Polaris introduced the 2-stroke Scrambler 400 and later the big-bore 4-stroke Scrambler 500, they were really big news! Here was a big-bore sport quad with 4WD. It was no Banshee that’s for sure, but it also definitely wasn’t anything like a 1997 utility quad either!

New powerful and fuel Efficient Volvo

http://autocargotransport.blogspot.comVolvo Buses is releasing a new Volvo B13R chassis fitted with a 13-litre engine that is not only has more powerful but also more fuel efficient than its predecessor

As Australia makes the transition to tougher Euro 5 exhaust emission standards, Volvo Buses is now taking the step of replacing the previous 12-litre engine with the 13-litre Volvo D13C, which will be fitted to the new three-axle Volvo B13R coach chassis.

The Volvo D13C is the same basic engine that has been used by Volvo Trucks for several years and its now one of the world’s most-sold heavy diesel engines.

Volvo Trucks’ experience shows that the Volvo D13C is an engine with robust technology and very high reliability.

Volvo Buses’ new engine is a straight six-cylinder diesel engine with turbo and intercooler. It has a one-piece cylinder head, overhead camshaft, four valves per cylinder and electronically controlled unit injectors, which ensures excellent fuel efficiency.

The powerful engine will be offered in both 420hp and 460hp versions, and has more torque than its predecessor. The 420hp engine has 2100 Nm at 1,100-1,400rpm, while the 460hp engine has 2,300 Nm at 1,050-1,400rpm.

Despite the higher displacement, Volvo engineers have successfully reduced the engine’s weight by about 80 kilograms compared with the 12-litre engine. The combination of lower weight and higher torque provides the opportunity for a higher average speed, further increasing cost-efficiency.

TOKYO, May 19 (Reuters) - Toyota Motor Corp (7203.T), the world's major automaker, said it plans to recall four models of its Lexus luxury car in Japan due to steering problems, its latest move in a sequence of massive recalls.

The recall is likely to cover about 4,500 cars in Japan and the total could reach 11,500 global, Toyota spokeswomen Mieko Iwasaki said on Wednesday.

The models in query were sold in the United States, Europe and China as well as Japan.
The models enclosed by the recall are the LS460 and LS460L, and hybrids LS600h and LS600hL.The move is the most recent in a series of recalls and incidents that have marked Toyota's reputation for quality.

The automaker has recalled other than eight million Toyota and Lexus vehicles worldwide in 2009 and this year, including 6.5 million in the United States, mainly due to complaints about unintended acceleration.

On Tuesday, Toyota paid a $16.4 million fine to settle allegations by U.S. regulators that it was too slow to recall vehicles with imperfect accelerator pedals. [ID:nN18139642]Toyota shares ended dawn trade down 1 percent at 3,495 yen, outperforming the Nikkei average .N225, which fell 1.6 percent. (Reporting by Nobuhiro Kubo and Taiga Uranaka)

Rolls Royce Car Engines, Phantom engine-101 EX-Corniche-Silver Ghost

These Motor Cars are a BMW subsidiary responsible for the manufacture of all the Rolls-Royce Phantom. The buyer was BMW, who already supplied engines and other components for Rolls-Royce. Used, reconditioned or secondhand, Rolls Royce engines are available with a 100% warranty.

2003 Phantom — Launched in January 2003, this is the first model from Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Limited, a BMW subsidiary having no technical or corporate connection with the original Rolls-Royce company. The car has a 6.75 L V12 engine from BMW, but most other components are unique to the car.

http://autocargotransport.blogspot.com
The 2000 Rolls-Royce Corniche is powered by a 325 hp (240 kW) 6.75 L turbocharged V8. The Corniche's engine is capable of enormous torque, providing 738 N·m (544 ft·lbf) at 2,100 rpm. This car is operated via a four-speed automatic transmission. It has a top speed of 135 mph (215 km/h) and a 0-60 mph acceleration time of eight seconds. The convertible, weighing 6,836 lb (3,101 kg), was built more for comfort than for speed.

A V16 engine is perfectly balanced with regardless of the V angle without requiring counter-rotating balancing shafts which are necessary on large Straight-4 or counterweighted crankshaft like the 90° V8 engine configuration. In addition angles of 45° and 135° Vs optimal solutions, for even firing and non split crankshaft journals.

V16 engines have been used in certain luxury and high-performance automobiles, mostly for their smoothness (low vibration) since it is possible to make a V8 or V12 engine as large and powerful as one could possibly want in an automotive application. Greater numbers of cylinders are also perceived as a status symbol

http://autocargotransport.blogspot.comV16 engines have been used in certain luxury and high-performance automobiles, mostly for their smoothness (low vibration) since it is possible to make a V8 or V12 engine as large and powerful as one could possibly want in an automotive application. Greater numbers of cylinders are also perceived as a status symbol.

Another use for the V16 powerplant is in large diesel engines. Here, manufacturers tend to work with a common cylinder size across a wide range of engines, and size the engine by the number of cylinders for different power requirements. Thus, many users of large diesel engines such as railroad locomotives use V16 powerplants, including many EMD (Electro-Motive Diesel, Inc., formerly a GM division} locomotives.

Ducati Street Fighter and Street Fighter S

http://autocargotransport.blogspot.com
http://autocargotransport.blogspot.com
Unlike the other bikes Ducati has been making for years, this Italian motorcycle manufacturer is now producing some rides that don't require a spine of steel and titanium wrists to enjoy it. And that's largely because most of their buyers are, yes, getting older and don't go for hardcore street bikes like they did it there were a bit more spry. To that end, the mighty Streetfighter and Streetfighter S position the rider upright. And these bikes are feather-light at 370 or so pounds. This pair also feature "DTC"---Ducati Traction Control---the better to keep you perpendicular.
